The Chorouk Association for the Advancement of the Condition of Women and the Protection of Children was established in Boudnib on 12 December 2004. Chorouk is an independent association with no political, religious, or ethnic objectives. Our only obligation is toward the common social, economic, and cultural benefit of Moroccan peoples in the local, regional, and national levels.
The two most important objectives of Chorouk are as follows:
- To promote the status of women
- To help address and improve upon the problems children face
Chorouk is involved in many activities in order to best address these objectives. We offer literacy training courses to women in both rural and urban areas who have not yet had the opportunity to undertake such studies. We also offer foreign language courses and classes in information technology for interested women and younger students. Occasionally, we organize training days for local women so that they may have the chance to learn more about both traditional and modern craft techniques in order to improve their products. We take finished products to annual exhibitions and festivals to advertise and promote the local handicrafts of Boudnib.
We have extended our training days to encompass classes on health and hygiene awareness. These lectures promote healthy living, proper infant care, and AIDS awareness, among many other topics. We have also reached out into the younger community with regular nursery and kindergarten classes so that we may help play a positive role in their formative years of education.
To ensure that all of our objectives are being met, we have created several committees to oversee each section of our operations:
- Committee of children
- Committee of women
- Committee of crafts
- Committee for the fight against illiteracy
- Committee of culture and information
- External relations committee
- Heritage committee
The Chorouk Association is composed of five female members:
- President: Laaziza Dahmane
- Vice President: Bouchra Fath
- Treasurer: Noura Korroumi
- Secretary: Khadija Amsyf
- Counselor: Rachida Najim
